Description

You are now all set to enjoy gaming on your Samsung TV with enhanced colors, smooth motion, less judder and blur, and low latency. Samsung TV Dark Screen Fix That said, the capability to produce brighter, more color-saturated images is one thing – but knowing when and where to employ that technology is a whole different matter. That’s where the Neo Quantum Processor 4K takes over. Using 16 neural networks, the Neo Quantum Processor 4K analyzes images on a frame-by-frame basis, upscaling the image if it’s coming from a sub-4K resolution using an image database and boosting contrast and color saturation. Once you’ve turned on those settings, the TV screen will be optimized for low latency while using a gaming console. Moreover, the color, sharpness, and contrast will be enhanced to optimize fast-moving objects. That said, Sony, Panasonic and Philips have all upped their game with forward-facing sound solutions that tend to offer better precision and good sound projection. While Samsung hasn’t gone down that route for the QN94A, it does seem to have responded to the challenge. The audio from this TV is a significant improvement on previous seasons. We were worried about the future of Samsung's One Connect system, which sees all connections (and even power) routed through an external processing box that can be placed out of sight, but Samsung has in fact launched a new version of One Connect for 2021. The big news is that the new One Connect box is significantly smaller and slimmer than the one it replaces, to the extent that it can be attached to the rear of the stand if required.

The stand that supports the QN94A is one of the heaviest things I’ve lifted. If you’re inclined to wall-mount this set, I’d suggest putting the stand together anyway and using it for home workouts. It’s that heavy.

Design, Connections and Control

Some of the best 50-inch smart TVs improve your viewing experience in ways that couldn’t have been predicted a few years ago. Upgrading to one of the best TVs that also supports 4K resolution is a real game-changer; whether you're a sports fan or gamer, movie watcher or streaming binger. But, did you know most TV shows, movies, games and streaming services are optimized for larger screen sizes? These terms refer to the number of pixels that make up the image on the screen. So, 4K screens offer four times more pixels than HD screens, with 8.3 million pixels working across the screen. This makes for more detailed and accurate images. Here's a list of the most common ones when looking for the best 50-inch smart TVs.

This is achieved byanalysing the audio signal, and using the available speakers combined with sophisticated processingto create sounds that are more aligned with the location of specific images on the screen. This certainly works, helping to create a more engaging experience that has improved directionality and immersion. It appears to have fewer dimming zones than the US and Australian QN90A, but we think that's the same number of zones as the UK QN90A. Compared to all versions of the model above it's got a more basic version of OTS sound with two fewer drivers.

Thinner, brighter and bolder… but it comes with a few caveats

The other issue with the Samsung QN90A’s design is that it only comes with one full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 port. That could be a slight problem down the road, but the good news is that, for now, all four ports can handle both the PS5 and Xbox Series X at 4K/120Hz, VRR and ALLM. Despite all four ports working well for the consoles, port 3 is the only port to support eARC, so you’ll want to use that for a soundbar. While MicroLED remains the preserve of the super-rich for now, Samsung is bringing Mini LED tech to its premium QLEDs, which it refers to as 'Neo QLEDs'. Underpinning the Samsung QN90A is the Tizen smart platform that Samsung has been using for, well, what feels like forever. New this year is the ability to change which smart assistant the TV uses and your options include Alexa, Google Assistant and Bixby. We still don’t think Bixby is on par with the other two, but now that’s less of an issue given the fact that it’s easy to switch to one of the others instead.

As for the UI of Tizen, it’s a pretty clean look. Pressing the home button brings up an overlay along the bottom of the screen with your frequently used apps and sources as well as the settings and Ambient Mode. Ambient Mode, more or less, is a lower power mode that helps the TV blend into its surrounding environment while retaining some key information – like the time – up on the screen. It’s been around for a few years now and is still an interior decorator’s dream come true. The static contrast shows the ratio between the brightest and the darkest color, which the display can reproduce simultaneously, for example, within one and the same frame/scene. I’m less convinced about its ‘Picture Clarity’ motion processing. Samsung doesn’t offer a wealth of options: simply Auto, Custom and Off. Auto is the least distinguished since it induces judder and a slight shimmer and frayed edges, which can distract with sports. Some models also offer additional features, such as Bluetooth connectivity for wireless audio connections, and smartphone and tablet connections. The QN95A supports high dynamic range in the form of HDR10, HLG (hybrid log-gamma), and HDR10+ Adaptive. The latter uses dynamic metadata to adapt the tone-mapping on a scene-by-scene basis, and now employs a sensor to customise the performance based on the ambient lighting conditions in your room. Annoyingly, Samsung still refuses to embrace Dolby Vision though.

What is the Samsung QE55Q95T?

Surround yourself with synchronized sound from your TV and soundbar, orchestrated in complete harmony with Q-Symphony. Regardless, the QN94A has the same depth as the QN95A model that comes with the external One Connect box. In the past, the One Connect box indicated the TV was slimmer than its similarly attired cousins. While that’s not the case here, the One Connect box does bring meaningful differences that I’ll get to later on. White Balance: Using this picture setting, you can fine-tune the appearance of the white color on your TV. If you think that white things on your TV screen have a red, green, or blue tint, you can adjust the Red Offset and Gain, the Green Offset and Gain, and Blue Offset and Gain. Depending on your TV model, you may have 2-point, 10-point, or 20-point white balance settings. By adjusting these settings you can make whites appear brighter. But it’s equally adept with upscaling lower-quality sources. While the QN94A doesn’t boast the advanced neural network upscaling of the 8K models, its upscaling offers an excellent sense of fine detail, clean and healthy-looking colours, and sharply etched lines that bring out more definition with HD sources. The AU7100 appears to be very similar to the AU9000 and AU8000 except for a downgrade from Dynamic Crystal Colour to Pur Colour.

The Samsung QN95A employs the Tizen-powered smart TV platform, and these days it gives LG’s webOS a run for its money in terms of user interface, responsiveness and functionality. There’s a launcher bar along the bottom and a second layer above that provides faster access to additional content. Navigation is a cinch, and there’s even voice control if you prefer. There are now four versions of OTS, with the new OTS Lite at the bottom and OTS Pro at the top. Each version differs in terms of the number of speakers involved. If you happen to add a recent Samsung soundbar to the 50QN90A, the two can join forces to deliver a larger, higher soundstage with even more accurately positioned vocals. The TV’s speakers are well-rounded enough to harmonise with those of the soundbar surprisingly well. The Super UltraWide Game View stretches the image to either 21:9 and 32:9 screen ratios and is only possible when a PC/laptop is connected. And you’d also need to be sitting fairly close to the screen for the required effect.

With state-of-the-art Quantum Matrix Technology, Samsung’s Quantum Mini LED delivers super-fine detail, epic contrast and a brilliantly intense picture. Samsung’s cutting-edge Neo Quantum Processor 4K powers a supreme 4K image, and advanced AI sound. 4K UHD resolution with Quantum HDR Samsung’s Tizen OS continues to be the best TV interface this year and we don’t see that changing any time soon. While Sony and LG suffer the temporary hiccups of missing UK catch-up services and, in the case of the former, an HDMI update for VRR that never seems to come, Samsung and Tizen are as solid, fully-featured, graphically appealing and easy to use as ever. We hope that whoever came up with it has a suitably large office with a top-floor panoramic view. They deserve it. High Dynamic Range smart TVs have a wider colour palette - over a billion colours compared to a few hundred thousand available on non-HDR screens. More colours mean more accurate pictures, vivid colours and better contrast and shadow detail. Dolby Vision is Dolby’s version of HDR and HRD10+. OLED and QLED Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits)
