So grateful to the team at Tail Saver for their support and advice on securing the harness perfectly and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product to anyone who’s dog has any kind of tail injury. Some of the technologies we use are necessary for critical functions like security and site integrity, account authentication, security and privacy preferences, internal site usage and maintenance data, and to make the site work correctly for browsing and transactions. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Open cell material allows for breathability around the tail reducing infection and keeping the tail cool while protecting it from impacts. It is also fully secure, with robust lock with key, giving you peace of mind that your dog will be safe if anyone breaks in or if you want to open the boot to give your pet fresh air during the summer months (although we never recommend leaving your dog unaccompanied in any vehicle).
It was just a little complicated getting fitted at first but the video really helped and it was worth taking a few extra steps than getting an amputation. I have heard a similar horror story about a dog excaping from a car after a very minor rear end shunt which caused the tailgate to open. I used to use a crate in the back of the car when it was just Poppy, but when Smudge came alonge I realised that I needed a back seat guard and rear tailguard as there wasn't room for 2 crates. I cannot stand the thought of amputation for the obvious reasons of pain and cost but most of all, that tail of hers is part of her personality! Manufactured from thick neoprene laminated with plush fabric to allow perfect adjustment so it stays securely in place.K9 TailSaver® is a 2-part set which Includes a Breathable Padded Tail Sleeve, a Carefully Designed Support Harness, a Wag Strap and a built in Anti-Twist Strap. I can’t recommend it enough and every vet out there should have some kind of affiliate relationship with this company to help dogs with tail injuries. We spent hundreds of dollars at the vets and were facing an amputation surgery with it's own set of risks.
I used a piece of lint wrapped round the tip with loads of Micropore, but it took months to heal and then he had a bare bit of skin that never furred up.Like many others have said, we were going down the road to amputation per the vet if we could not get Luna's tail to heal not to mention the bloody massacre our house is starting to look like.
It's a bit tricky, but it's the only thing that worked for a Dane mix puppy who had to have a wound on the tip of the tail debrided. I will say he didn’t do well with the wag straps at first, and it would have been easier to keep his tail in the protector had I stuck to using them from the get go.
If you’ve already done that, your item hasn’t arrived, or it’s not as described, you can report that to Etsy by opening a case. Travall tailgate guards are designed to be used ONLY with the Travall divider when it is either set in the 40:60 position for the smaller side of the divider or when the divider. I have a male 90lb pitbull catahoula and I had two vets tell me I should probably amputate my dogs tail because it just kept busting open and he wouldn’t let me bandage it at all. I always include instructions on how to apply it, and strongly suggest supervision, clearly not done here.
