Thinking about that comment in hindsight, Rashford diplomatically suggests to me that “I would just ask that [Bradley], along with others with a similar mindset, meets with families most in need to better understand daily struggle so that effective measures can be put in place to protect our most vulnerable children. Ultimately we all want the same thing so collaboration is important here.” In the evening after the motion to extend free school meal provision had been defeated, Rashford set about seeing exactly how much reach his campaign now had, retweeting reports from around the UK of cafes and local businesses responding to the MPs’ vote by making direct offers of free food to struggling families. In early October, it was announced that Rashford was to be awarded the MBE. Critics said he had been bought off by the government; five days later he launched a petition to end child food poverty and extend out-of-term free school meals to all children from a household on universal credit or the equivalent until Easter 2021. So, er, you illustrate what is in a story but also maybe what isn't, to a degree. So maybe, you know, some things aren't quite said in a text but you can add them, um, expand, basically. MARTA: A bit of a half a broccoli, indeed. And then we do the same on the other side, keeping in mind we don't wanna go over the ear too much.
