Repairs: These pens are useful for repairing damaged or broken circuit traces on electronic devices or printed circuit boards (PCBs). The easy to use solvent based, acrylic lacquer is pigmented with nickel flake and does not need heat to cure. If the drawn trace must be soldered to, we recommended that tin/lead solder containing 2% silver be used and that the trace is heat-cured at 150 °F (66 °C) for five minutes to produce the most durable trace possible. Instead of traditional methods like soldering, engineers can draw circuit traces directly onto a PCB using the conductive pen.

All three conductive paint pens are commonly used as circuit board trace repair pens; however, they are also highly useful in prototyping applications. Photo paper also has other benefits: you can erase ink by scratching a trace away, and you also get the highest conductivity on this surface (<2 ohms/cm).Use it as an economical alternative to nickel or silver paints where extreme conductivity is not required. If shaking the pen does not free the mixing bearing (you cannot hear it moving within the pen barrel) or the ink still refuses to flow when the pen tip is retracted, then the clogging within the tip assembly is more serious and will require a more rigorous cleaning to re-establish proper operation. Make the pen body slightly vertical, press the pen tip lightly on the plane, squeeze the pen bar and drag slowly, and the handwriting needs to be plump and stable. In this article, we will discuss the top 12 mistakes made when repairing electronic circuit boards, including how to avoid them and what to do if you've already made them.

P – Carbon Conductive Pen – Best for low voltage repairs such as keyboards, game controllers, or remote controls. For functional use, photo paper performs the best because the ink is able to form a continuous film on a smooth surface. The shelf life of a product can be found on either the technical data sheet (TDS), available on the product page, or by looking on the certificate on conformance (COC).

This is a resistive paint which may not be suited to high current applications such as heated rear window track repairs and other higher power applications (in excess of 100ma), for these applications a silver loaded paint, conventional wiring and soldering are the main practical solutions. It is very common for there to look as though the ink level is only 1/5 full when settled, but the pens are shipped with 1. We've measured the resistance of pencil traces at 5 - 8 megaohms with a single pass, and 30-60 kiloohms with lots of pressing down and scribbling.

We're planning on releasing our ink in different forms for consumers - markers, bottles - in the far future. For applications requiring lower resistance, use the 841AR-P Nickel Conductive Pen or the 842AR-P Silver Conductive Pen.For best results hold pen at angle, depress pen tip against surface, and draw pen across surface while gently squeezing middle. You can use a Circuit Scribe pen to draw lines on any simple piece of paper, then attach special electrical components (Circuit Scribe modules) on the drawn lines which allow the electrical current to run through the components. Techspray offers TraceTech Conductive Pen, which contains highly conductive silver suspended in a liquid polymer. The conductive ink pen is of good quality, and it is impossible to be non-conductive after painting and drying under normal use. A trace drawn with the conductive ink will combine with solder, provided the soldering temperature does not exceed 350 °F (177 °C) and the solder joint is formed within 5 seconds.
