Dan Barcaglia... If, as you say, the A7ii is within a stone's throw of equalling a D750, Sony's done very well. I've spent an hour with the camera in a store, and I think the heft is actually an advantage vs. the A7. The bulk that bothers you is a function of adding the grip, which improves the camera. (In the review, you show the A7 next to the A7ii with a larger lens, which is not quite fair.) Sony expands range of compact full-frame mirrorless cameras with the launch of the ultra-sensitive α7S II". Press Centre - Sony. Sony Europe. Archived from the original on November 12, 2019 . Retrieved November 12, 2019. The A7S II's screen can be pulled out and tilted both upwards and downwards, but you can't flip it around to face the front and your setup can get awkward if you have anything mounted on the hotshoe. Surprisingly the a7R II doesn’t hold up so bad in lowlight at all. It can almost match the a7S II detail in low ISO modes. What I can always see is the a7S II having better noise performance. The image is cleaner. Anyway, with a little bit of noise the a7R II looks ok up until ISO 12,800 and does resolve details in the shadow areas. The great thing about sensor-based IS in a camera like the a7 II is the realm of possibilities it opens up for third-party, and adapted lens users.

In lowlight and noise the Sony a7S II is clearly the winner with an edge of about 2 stops. However the Sony a7R II in crop mode is a pretty good performer. It can retain good shadow detail up until ISO 25,600, but there is clearly more noise than on the a7S II. If you want the best and cleanest lowlight camera go for the a7S II. Which One Is Right for You? Beyond this improved dynamic range, the Sony A7S III also includes a number of upgrades to satisfy pro video expectations in 2020. Flash off, Auto flash, Fill-flash, Slow Sync., Rear Sync., Hi-speed Sync, Wireless; Red-eye reduction: On/Off

Then, ask yourself - and I am serious here - "Why am I considering spending this much money on a camera only to shoot JPEG?" This device comes with a 1.3cm XGA OLED (0.5 type) electronic viewfinder (color) that provides you with a clear preview of the object.

theres no objects that are inappropriate for the a7rii however the a7s is going to have better low light performance. The A7S III also appears to have something of a dual-native ISO mode, where there is an increase in image quality after passing a certain high ISO threshold. This has not been confirmed by Sony, so it could just be wishful thinking or a little accidental software magic. DSLrs are easier to stabilize than mirorrless ones. Neveretheless, for shutter speeds longer than 1/15 you'll need a tripod anyway. They come with a 1.3cm XGA OLED (0.5 type) electronic viewfinder, which provides you a clear view of the object with fine details before capturing it. One of the biggest differences between the Sony A7S III and A7S II is battery life, with Sony's new video flagship getting a significant upgrade thanks to the inclusion of its Z battery.

I think the review was too focused on image quality comparison at crazy ISO ranges and the bulk of the camera, which to anyone who does a blind test realizes the a7ii is much smaller and lighter than any other Full Frame camera. Yes, there are many bodies that provide better out-of-camera JPEG results... but you are leaving SOOOO MUCH on the table by not using RAW. The α7S II's shutter speed range is 30 s to 1/8,000 s for still images. For bulb movies, the shutter speed range is 1/4 s (1/3 s step) to 1/8,000 s. [2] Sony a7s ii comes with a 100-102400 range, which can be increased to 50-409600. Another side, the Sony a7r ii’s ISO sensitivity range is 100-25600, and its expandable range is 50-102400. So, the Sony a7sii is better than the Sony a7r ii for the ISO range. The question now is whether or not Sony will bring this interface to its other cameras via a software update –there's no news on this yet, but it won't be possible on the Sony A7S II because its screen isn't touch-sensitive. 7. Battery life

Bad review. Concerning IS, the ability to use slower shutter translates to either lower ISO or better DOF. These are real advantages, and not just when wanting to hand-hold. Put a long lens on a camera on a tripod, and you have shake. You end up either using higher ISO than is desirable, or larger aperture. IS helps greatly. Also, in situations where IS will help with picture quality, it also helps with autofocus. With the a7II, if you find a lens you like but it doesn't have IS, no worries. Another thing that no other consumer camera has been able to achieve yet is 15 stops of dynamic range, this is impressive. Knowing the cinema RED cameras sit around 16 stops of dynamic range, the A7Siii isn’t far from that. I couldnt believe it!!!, never been able to do that before. There may be better allround ff options out there, but its still a hell of a camera for the money, just got to learn how to get the best out of it, like any new cam/However in 4K full-frame mode, which is slightly softer, the a7R II has about 50% better rolling shutter performance. The cameras share a lot of similar specs in video mode, like the 100Mbps XAVC-S codec, 4K (UHD) internal recording, but the recording and crop modes differ as follows: Sony internal test. 77 deg F (25 deg C) (ambient, camera when recording started), Auto Power Off Temperature: High. The value will vary depending on the shooting conditions.
